Spanish is taught in KS2 according to the 2014 scheme of work for languages using a variety of songs, games and fun activities and is cross-curricular where possible.
It starts with learning the words and phrases for simple greetings, colours and numbers in Year 3, progressing to dates and family members and body parts in year 4. In year 5 children then learn words and phrases linked to sports, opinions and simple time. In year 6 children learn how to say what the weather is, describe towns and learn about some Spanish and Latin festivals. In addition, within Year 6 children also get the chance to prepare some simple tapas in the summer term.
