Domestic Abuse

Domestic violence and abuse can happen to anyone, yet the problem is often overlooked, excused, or denied. This is especially true when the abuse is psychological, rather than physical.

'Domestic abuse is categorised by any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.'   Definition from MET website

Noticing and acknowledging the signs of an abusive relationship is the first step to ending it. No one should live in fear of the person they love.

There is help available.

Operation Encompass

High View Primary School is a member of the Operation Encompass scheme which is run jointly between local schools, Police and Children's Services. Operation Encompass has been designed to provide early reporting on any domestic incidents that occur outside of school and might have an impact on a child in school.

Operation Encompass will ensure that a member of the Designated Safeguarding Team is informed the next morning that there has been a domestic incident or if a child has been reported as missing.

Through sharing this information with a safeguarding lead at the school, they can ensure that the child is supported in the most appropriate way during the school day. We are keen to offer the best support possible for our pupils and we believe this is going to be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
