Learning Through Play

Play is at the heart of learning in the Early Years. Through play, children explore new ideas, develop their confidence, build relationships, and make sense of the world around them. Research shows that meaningful play experiences help children develop the skills, knowledge, and understanding that form the foundations for future learning.

At High View, we carefully plan our indoor and outdoor learning environments to provide children with rich opportunities to explore, create, investigate, and problem-solve. Our continuous provision allows children to independently access a wide range of resources, follow their interests, and revisit learning through play, while skilled adults support and extend their thinking.

The video and presentation below explain how learning through play supports children's development across all areas of the Early Years curriculum and provide an insight into the experiences and opportunities available to children in our Nursery and Reception classes.
