Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED)
Personal, Social, and Emotional Development helps children build confidence, understand their feelings, and develop positive relationships with others. Within this area, we focus on:
- Self-confidence and Self-awareness – helping children feel good about themselves and their abilities.
- Managing Feelings and Behaviour – teaching children how to understand and regulate their emotions and actions.
- Making Relationships – encouraging children to play, share, and work cooperatively with others.
These skills support children’s well-being and prepare them to be happy, confident learners.
In Nursery
In Nursery, children begin to develop their independence, learn to share and take turns, and start to understand their emotions through play and interaction with caring adults.
In Reception
In Reception, children build on these skills by managing their feelings more effectively, forming stronger friendships, and taking responsibility for their behaviour and learning.
