Physical Development
Physical Development (PD)
Physical Development focuses on helping children gain control over their bodies and develop the coordination and strength needed for everyday activities. Within this area, we focus on:
Gross Motor Skills – building large movements like running, jumping, and climbing.
Fine Motor Skills – developing small movements like using pencils, scissors, and manipulating small objects.
These skills support children’s independence and readiness for writing, self-care, and physical activities.
In Nursery
In Nursery, children explore movement through play, using equipment like climbing frames, balls, and ride-on toys, while beginning to practice hand-eye coordination with activities like threading and painting.
In Reception
In Reception, children refine these skills with more focused activities such as writing, cutting, and balancing, preparing them for the demands of school life and everyday tasks.
