welcome

"Thank you for visiting our website. I hope you will find it full of useful and interesting information.

We are really proud of our school. It is a very special, happy and dynamic place with a team of talented, hardworking and enthusiastic staff who are dedicated to doing the very best for every child in our care.

We had our OFSTED Inspection in July 2011 and we were rated as a good school. The report clearly states the areas in which the OFSTED team considered High View had particular strengths. The great thing is that we have got even better since then! One of the strengths of the school is that we are always seeking ways to improve and we do!!

Enjoy your visit to our website, please call us or visit us to find out even more!!"

We have really enjoyed Eco Week, learning all about recycling, greener travel, how to save energy and how to take care of our premises. Also we had great fun making hats created from recycled materials - click here to take a look!

We really enjoyed Character Week in November, especially dressing up as heroes and villains - click here to look at our costumes!

'Bird Talk' came to visit on Friday 16th September, the birds were fascinating - click here to take a look.

We pride ourselves on ensuring that all pupils have every opportunity to reach the highest possible standards, not only in Maths, English, Science, ICT (Information & Communication Technology) and all of the other various subjects but also in the pursuit of becoming the very best person that they can be. We spend valuable time ensuring that children know their strengths as well as their areas to develop. We aim for every child to leave High View with an enthusiasm for learning as well as an inner confidence to try new things and continue learning -even through mistakes.

Spanish is taught in all classes in KS2 and we have a Spanish club for KS1 children. Staff and outside specialists run approximately 15 clubs before, during and after school. An amazing range of opportunities including: chess, choir, Christian club, football, dance, cookery, computer, art and multi-skills!! Our choir use every opportunity to showcase their singing skills (including singing at O2 in 2012) and all of the children in Years 4 and 5 learn to play the violin with the fantastic opportunity to play at Fairfield Halls at the end of the year. In addition there are opportunities for children to learn various instruments such as guitar and flute ensuring Music is a blossoming picture. We have clubs and teams in various sports and take part in many borough and outside competitions. We are proud recipients of the nationally accredited Active Mark on an annual basis. In addition, and following rigorous moderating procedures, we have been awarded Healthy Schools Status, the Basic Skills Mark, Investor’s in People and the particularly prestigious ICT Mark. We are currently in the process of applying for the Inclusion Mark.

Along with the governors and our committed premises manager, we are constantly looking to improve our premises in order to make it a pleasant place for everyone. In the past five years (with help from the borough and our own amazing PTFA) we have designed, raised funds and built a wonderful 15 terminal ILA (Independent Learning Area), totally refurbished our 30 terminal ICT Suite, designed and developed a superb Environmental Area and outdoor classroom, built a portacabin (for use as a children’s centre, after and pre-school club and for school use as well) refreshed the playground equipment with a trim trail and playground markings and renovated the Nursery outdoor area too.

There is a complete wrap around care on site which is provided by an independent company “Kool Kids”. They offer a Breakfast Club from 7:30am and after school care until 6:00pm. It is situated in the cabin and is made available at an extra cost to parents. This provision has been graded as “good” by OFSTED.

We really hope the website gives you a flavour of the fun and enjoyment of High View Primary School. It is a very special place which treats all children as individuals, where everyone works hard to ensure all children, irrespective of their gender, ability, interests, background or ethnicity are fully involved and included in the school community.

The children are the key to the success of any school and I am delighted that our pupils are so interested, involved, well behaved and committed to High View. They contribute so much to school and bring it to life with their positive attitudes, flair, talent and enthusiasm.
